Tourmaline comes in more colors than any other gemstone on earth. The old story says it traveled up through a rainbow on its way out of the ground and kept a little of every color it passed.
This strand runs the whole spectrum as an ombre: near black at the back, then deep forest and olive, into honey and amber, then raspberry and soft petal pink, with pale mint and near clear threaded through. The color moves the way light moves across water, and it never repeats in the same order twice.
At the front hangs a rose quartz pendant, pale and translucent the way good rose quartz is, set in 18kt gold vermeil with a garnet bezel at its center. That garnet is a deep berry red that answers the pink tourmalines further up the strand. It is the quiet reason the whole piece holds together.
