A strand of deep garnet, strung by hand, and a flower carved from conch shell resting where the light falls.
The garnets are faceted rondelles, small enough to sit close and catch fire when you move. They run the whole length in a deep wine hue. The clasp is 14k gold filled and sits at the front, on purpose, where you can see it.
The pale pink flower hangs from that clasp, and is removable, making this a versatile neutral piece. Carved by hand from conch shell in the softest pink, with a bezel set faceted garnet set into its center. Wear it as it is, or unclip the flower and let the garnet stand on its own. Two necklaces in one piece!

About garnet
Garnet is January's birthstone and has been worn for centuries as a stone of vitality and courage. Travelers once carried it as a light for dark places, which is a lovely thing to wear at the base of your throat.
One of a kind. The shell was carved by hand, so no two flowers are alike, and when this one is gone it is gone.
